Aimed at Assimilating clean solar energy and sustainable innovation education through Training the Youth in rural areas.
Soma Energy is an Ed-Tech start up based in Nairobi, Kenya.We saw the role of education in lifting rural families to the middle class and enabling change in
life trajectory inspired our work with off grid energy youth. Thus working with rural youth has now brought us full circle to our roots.
Through our mobile solar academy we mix technical with soft skills, and have no fixed campus.

Through the 'Soma Energy van' as our mobile academy we are able to reach the youth in the rural areas.

The effects of climate change and failure to combat climate change is both catastrophic & irreversible, and we are already at the tipping point of no return.Through education people can see that renewable energy leads to job creation and human development,then the clean energy transition will get sped up.

Founder and C.E.O
Gloria Kisilu is the founder and CEO of Soma Solar Energy, an ed-tech startup working with rural youth in the Solar Energy industry . Prior to Soma Energy, Gloria was one of the Co-founders of Shaba Markett an online marketplace for local artisans to personalise trade directly to their customers business-to-consumer integration. Before joining Shaba Markett, Gloria was a senior vice president at a solar company where she oversaw the Sustainable Community business units and managed the training Program. Gloria holds an undergraduate degree from Strathmore University with keen interest on Environmental conservation and Business sustainability
